Women in Missions: Sue Murr and Karen Indehar
Do you desire to pray with other women for God to make his name known among the nations? Do you want to be emboldened in your own prayer life for the global church? Do you want to hear testimonies from women who have seen God work overseas? Please join us at Women in Missions on Monday, December 11, 10am–Noon at the Downtown Campus. This month, we’ll hear from Global Partners Sue Murr and Karen Indehar.
Sue serves children and adults with disabilities throughout Uganda, combining her two passions for physiotherapy and disability ministry in the church. Working alongside national partners, she provides direct services to children and their families, pointing them to Jesus for their ultimate healing. Several times per year, Sue participates in wheelchair distributions, where up to 200 people in one district receive the life-changing gift of mobility. She has also partnered with churches who have identified congregants struggling with disabilities and has learned how to serve and be served by these individuals and their families. Throughout these experiences, God has shown her that the Body of Christ is strongest when each member seeks to understand the gift God has given to him/her and to use it for his glory.
Karen partners with her husband, Todd, in Bangkok, Thailand, where they have been church planting among the urban poor since 2005. Karen is fluent in Thai language and culture, and walks among the people prayerfully sharing the hope and love of Jesus Christ to a population traditionally resistant to the gospel. Partnering with Steve & Nopaluck Cable, Todd & Karen opened an English Center in 2015 in order to meet a variety of both spiritual and physical needs in the community. The center serves as home to their growing church and provides employment for some urban poor. It also offers locals conversational English lessons, through which many victims of the sex-trafficking industry have heard the gospel. Karen currently mentors five Thai women.
We hope you’ll come and enjoy hearing from these two global partners on Monday, December 11. Bring a friend! A light lunch will be served at Noon if you’re able to stay after the meeting.
