We have a new update from the C. Family since their evacuation from Afghanistan ...

“And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”—Psalm 50:15 

Our family is deeply grateful for your prayer support in this difficult time. We praise God for making a way for us to evacuate our city as the situation was deteriorating rapidly around us—and yet our hearts are breaking over having to leave our beloved people behind.

During our last week in the country, our plans were changing daily, and on the last day, they were changing about every 30 minutes. Our situation was very stressful for the kids, but God is giving them grace and we praise God that they are grieving their losses in faith-filled ways. It was a surreal experience in those last several hours to drive through abandoned streets, be transferred by helicopter, and spend a day and a half in an airport listening to gunfire and smelling tear gas. Then we were waving goodbye to our home of 11 years, not certain if and when we can return.

Many of our local friends are also scrambling to leave, and yet we are encouraged by some (including brothers and sisters) choosing to stay. Please pray that the Kingdom will grow even during this unlikely time. The light shines brightest in the darkest times, and this gives us hope. A brother spoke a word a month ago: “If the opposition group comes in, many will turn to Him!”  May it be, Lord Jesus, may it be. We have many feelings at this time, including a sense of incredible loss as, outwardly, a decade of work is being undone. We must look to the unseen and pray that God works out of an impossible situation as only he can.

In the meantime, please pray for rest, healing, wisdom, joy, hope, and peace in the Lord in this time of deep unknown and loss. Thanks so much!
