South Campus Building Project Update #6
From Jon Hendricks, Chair of the South Campus Building Committee ...
We’ve been blessed with relatively dry Fall weather that has helped our South Campus Building construction schedule. The site grading where the building will be located is largely completed. One can now clearly see the level at which the sanctuary and gymnasium will be located. See recent pictures in our Facebook album: South Campus Building Project Update.
Both entrances to our site have been constructed, as are the holding ponds on the north end of our property. The sewer and water lines have also been installed.
The eastern portion of our site currently holds the topsoil to be used next year. That area will get its final grading next year.
Looking forward, our current construction schedule shows foundations being completed in December with the walls going up in January.
A couple fun facts:
- Approximately 134 tons (~268,000 pounds) of structural steel will be used in the building
- 70 tons of steel joists will also be needed
Here’s how you can pray for this project:
- We’re facing challenges on project pricing. While the grading and site work bids came in lower than expected, recent bids for the building components are coming in higher than expected and make completion of key portions of the project beyond our budget. One key area at risk is the nursery area. If you're able to assist with this project by making a significant, designated, year-end gift that is beyond what you’ve already indicated you’d give, please contact us.
- Pray for our Project Manager, Superintendent, and other Anderson Companies employees to work efficiently and effectively on the many details of this project.
- Finally, please pray for the safety of all the workers on the job site.
