Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief Trip
Please consider joining this trip with me ...
When: December 2–9, 2017
NOTE: Trip dates have been changed to January 2–9
Where: We will be partnering with a church in Puerto Rico, where Luis & Cristina Rodriguez have connections. Luis, an Elder at the North Campus, has family in Puerto Rico, and we will possibly be working with their family’s church. The church and a school run by the church were severely damaged. Due to damage to the communication system, final plans/details have been difficult to solidify. (Note that the image in the blog header shows damage to a Christian school.)
What: We will be assisting in many ways—from hauling debris to reconstructing. While doing that, we desire to be the aroma of Christ to all we come in contact with, sharing the love of Jesus in word and deed.
Who: Anyone able to help move debris. (Those under 18 need parental approval.) We are considering this trip to be very difficult because of the lack of electricity, clean water, and communication. Disease is risk factor.
Essential items to bring: Work clothes, towelettes, first aid supplies, N95 dust masks, gloves, and a water purification system or pills.
How to sign up: Fill out the application by or before Monday, November 13, and make sure you have your tetanus shot updated.
Cost: $1,000 to cover airfare, lodging, and food.
If you have additional questions, contact JoNell Baker.
To give toward Bethlehem’s efforts to assist with relief, donate through Bethlehem to the Hurricane Relief Fund. We’ll use these resources to support the church/ministry we work with and to purchase needed supplies.
