January 2021 Church Planting Update

Kenny Stokes

Pastor for Church Planting

Church Planting Classes

  • This week (January 11–15), Pastor Kenny Stokes is teaching a Church Growth & Renewal course at Bethlehem College & Seminary. Twenty-two students are enrolled in this class that aims to equip future church planters and leaders. Please pray with us that God would use this class to clarify his calling on the lives of several of these students toward church planting or revitalization.
  • At the end of the month, Pastor Kenny is traveling to California to teach a three-day class on Church Planting & Revitalization. Pray that God would use the class to practically equip this group of men who are aiming to plant churches across the country in the coming years.

Northwest Suburbs Church Plant Info Meeting

Join Marshall Posey, Church Planting Resident, North Campus, at an informational meeting on Sunday, January 17, at 12:30pm in the North Campus Chapel to hear more about the vision to plant a church in the northwest suburbs of Minneapolis. Marshall & Becky Posey, along with other members of the church plant team, will be in attendance to share the vision of “Treasuring Christ & Making Disciples” and to talk with you about the developing church plant. If you have any questions, you can reach out to Marshall.

Treasuring Christ Together Network

Did you know that the Treasuring Christ Together Network (TCTN) has a podcast? In the latest broadcast, TCTN church planters Jordan Thomas and Brett Louis discuss “Boasting in Weakness.” Check out additional episodes of the podcast to hear from many of our other TCTN pastors.

Church Planter of the Month

Kempton & Caryn Turner, along with their children Christian, Carysse, Kalia, Caleb, and Kellan,  moved to East St. Louis, Illinois, in 2016 to plant City of Joy Fellowship. Here are some recent prayer requests they shared with us:

  • Pray for us as we seek the Lord for Acts 2:42 grace and move toward worshiping through our “Joy Communities” in homes.
  • Pray that our leaders will continue to care for and serve our members well during these turbulent times.
  • Pray that the Lord will give us wisdom for how we can reach our city and serve in tangible ways in the coming months.

Please feel free to email Kempton a note of encouragement!
